Anxiety is one of the most common reasons that people start therapy. With the increased professional and personal demands that accompany modern life, it’s no wonder. Anxiety often is accompanied by depression or the blues, and can sometimes be difficult to distinguish between the two.

Anxiety can be viewed as fear or uncertainty about the future, such as being fearful of losing a job or a relationship. Sometimes there are clear reasons for these fears, and other times there is no apparent source. Counseling can help to identify the source of anxiety and lessen its impact on the present.

Because anxiety is such a common problem, the good news is that a lot of research has been done about how to treat it. Psychotherapy can be a very effective way of lessening or managing distressing thoughts and worries about the future.
